Jackfruit – Fenesi

Jackfruit - Fenesi

Jackfruit (Fenesi) Photo by Miriam Kinunda

I love this fruit so much. It is available here in Phoenix at our local international food market, but it is much cheaper to buy canned jackfruit. Canned jackfruit taste almost the same as fresh.

The seeds are boiled or roasted and eaten as a snack. If you love chestnuts then you will love jackfruit seeds because the taste is almost the same.

Grows best in tropical countries of Africa, South America (Brazil) and some parts of Asia; and guess what! Now they are grown in southern States of USA. I am very happy about this.

Jackfruit is said to protect against heart diseases, act as an antioxidant, reduces cancer risk and etc. If you want to learn more details about health benefits of jackfruit please visit http://www.healthonlinezine.info/health-benefits-of-jackfruit.html

The daily value of nutrients per one cup of jackfruit slices is:
8% calories,
10% vitamin A,
18% vitamin C,
11% riboflavin,
15% Magnesium,
14% Potassium,
16% Manganese, and
15% Copper.

Apparently, the roots of this fruits are known to help people with asthma.

      John,
      Nitumie Inbox mwezi December.

Watu wengi wameniulizia kitu hicho hicho.
